Recently, Motorama 4x4xMORE joined the 2023 K'gari Clean Up - an annual effort hosted by Four Wheel Drive Association Queensland to remove rubbish from the shores of the world's largest sand island. For the third year running, the event was managed by Tangaroa Blue Foundation - an Australia-wide not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the removal and prevention of marine debris.
Motorama 4x4xMORE hosted over 60 volunteers from our customer base to scour a wide section of Seventy-Five Mile Beach on the southern end of K'gari over the course of a Sunday morning in late May.
During the clean-up, our group collected 98 bags of rubbish from the beach which, upon weigh-in, totalled 622 kilos of waste collected - an exceptional effort from our volunteers.
In total, the clean-up saw over 600 volunteers from various clubs and organisations give up their weekend to assist in this year's Clean Up. Everyone's hard work contributed to a total clean-up effort of nearly 6 tonnes of rubbish removed from K'gari.
We'd like to thank all our volunteers this year for putting in another great effort on behalf of Motorama 4x4xMORE.
Over the clean up weekend, we stayed at the iconic K'gari Beach Resort in Eurong. Check out the latest hot offers from K'gari Beach Resort and book your next island escape.
After the clean up, we got to enjoy some of the island's best sites with our group to finish out the weekend. The 4x4xMORE team hosted Tag-Along Tours to the idyllic Lake McKenzie and Lake Wabby, and we couldn't miss heading up the beach to check out the historic Maheno shipwreck, Eli Creek and the towering Indian Head.
Seeing these incredible sites really emphasises the important of the events like the K'gari Fraser Island Clean Up and the work that organisation like Tangaroa Blue do to promote these efforts.
Thanks to Four Wheel Drive Queensland and Tangaroa Blue for their collective effort in making this event a resounding success. We can't wait to be back next year.
