A hidden gem for animal lovers, Lyell Deer Sanctuary is home to over 50 rescue animals, including deer, goats, cows, chickens, guinea pigs, peacocks, and even cats.
Families can cuddle, sit with, and hand-feed the deer, creating a truly unique experience (deer food pellets are included with entry!).
Recognised as a Best of Queensland Experience by Tourism Queensland for the past four years, this sanctuary provides a safe haven for rescue animals, with every visit directly helping to provide care, rehabilitation, and a second chance at life for animals in need.
Lyell Deer Sanctuary is open every weekend, 10am-4pm.

For a truly interactive farm experience, head to Trevena Glen Farm. This farm offers a range of hands-on activities with animals, perfect for children aged 4 and up.
Spend time grooming and walking donkeys and mini horses, feeding rabbits, and even collecting veggies from the garden.
The 3-hour Personal Animal Tour lets you and your family get up close and personal with the animals and learn about farm life. Plus, you’ll enjoy a special morning tea under the fig tree—perfect for taking a break after spending time with the animals.
Bookings are essential to visit the farm, so book online at least 8 hours in advance!

This is a must-visit for coffee & brunch lovers. This charming family-owned café serves up a range of delicious offerings, from traditional English food (think pork pies and Eccles tarts) to freshly brewed coffee and gelato from the Maleny Food Co.
Whether you’re in the mood for a full meal or a quick bite, this café has something for everyone. Located just across from John Scott Park, it’s the perfect spot to grab a coffee before heading out to explore more of Samford Village.

For a peaceful day surrounded by nature, head to Lake Samsonvale, home to the North Pine Dam, which provides drinking water to the Moreton Region and Brisbane.
The Lake Samsonvale walking trail from Bullocky Rest to Forgan Cove is an easy 4km walk that winds along the water’s edge, suitable for all fitness levels. Keep your eyes peeled for koalas in the trees and waterbirds like pelicans out on the water.
Picnic and barbecue areas are available at Bullocky Rest, Forgan Park and Kobble Creek. For a quieter, more secluded vibe, head to Forgan Cove for a peaceful picnic with scenic views.

If you're up for a short and scenic walk, the Cerebra Circuit at Samford Conservation Park is perfect for families.
This 900m walk through ironbark and spotted gum forests is ideal for spotting local wildlife like lorikeets, rosellas, and koalas. It’s a great place to take in the area’s natural beauty.
