5 Pro Tips for a Dirt-Free Car

Time and time again as you’re polishing your dashboard, you see the dust in the A/C vent and think “how can I clean that?"

We’ve got 5 tips and tricks that you can use to ensure you reach all those hard to clean spots in your car. When you know the right tools to use (and most of them you probably already have around your house), these jobs suddenly get a whole lot simpler!

TWO BUCKET RINSE AND REPEAT

Keep the dirt off your mitten by keeping a separate bucket full of clean water next to the one filled with suds. By regularly rinsing out the sudsy mitten, you ensure that you’re not returning the grime you just cleaned off, back onto your cars paintwork. Be sure to send the mitten through the washing machine post-wash for the best results next time.

HAVE YOUR VACUUM ON HAND

When dusting at the start, make your job much easier by keeping the vacuum you use to clean your car ON, sucking the dust up as you go along. This will greatly reduce the amount of dust and debris that you have to clean out of the seats and carpet later on.

DUST MAGNETS

We all know the louvers of the A/C vents like to attract a lot of dust, but did you know what the vacuum can’t reach, a simple paintbrush can? Other areas which clean well with a paintbrush are the grooves of the gearstick and the radio and A/C controls.

GRIMY GLASS

Don’t like the dark layer of grime growing at the top of your windows? A handy tip for removing the grime is to wind the windows down to the halfway position and then liberally spray glass cleaner onto a clean rag, using it and a little elbow grease to polish both sides of the window.

THE FINER DETAILS

In order to clean those grooves and spots which would otherwise be inaccessible with the vacuum, wrap the head of a blunt/worn out (definitely not sharp) screwdriver with part of a cloth sprayed with all-purpose cleaner. This enables you to remove the grime from areas like around the window controls, arm rests and the handbrake without having to break the bank.

Keep these tips in mind and you’ll have your car looking brand new in no time.
