Thanks to Toyota and Planet Ark’s National Tree Day, the Motorama Toyota team had a fantastic opportunity to engage with our local community to do something positive for the environment.
This year for National Tree Day, Motorama Toyota teamed up with Active Kids Hillcrest, a local kindergarten who were keen to make their playground that much greener & teach the children where their food comes from.
Active Kids Hillcrest had been the recipients of National Tree Day a few years ago, and were proud to show off their Lilly Pilly’s that were once seedlings, and now creating a wonderful backdrop to the playground.
“This year we worked out what kids would enjoy and be safe to explore - so we got into creating hanging baskets to grow strawberries in, safe from little hands, so they can produce fruit. We also included Parsley seedlings, Mint seedlings, Sunflower seeds, Salad seedlings, pink ground cover native “pig face” & the like” said Mrs Anna, Active Kids Educator This year for National Tree Day, Motorama Toyota planted a number of trees with the aim to provide future generations with an abundance of shade and green space.
“We spent a lot of time sporting little fingers into the correct fingers of the gloves. The kids soon got the hang of it & we had our garden planted in no time” said Mrs Anna.
Planting day was thankfully warm & sunny & the kids had a ball getting their hands dirty. Motorama Toyota supplied hats and gloves, which were highly sought after.
“We are very proud to once again partner with Active Kids Hillcrest and celebrate one of the very important Motorama values of "Be Green".
“There is no better way to promote being environmentally friendly than putting some plants in the kids' hands and letting them loose in a garden. It's a fun way to teach our future generation why we need to protect the beauty and wonder of our environment” said Carl Martin, Dealer Principal
