The White Cloud Foundation was founded in Brisbane to create access and support networks for people, families and carers who live with, or are at risk of developing anxiety or depression.
Motorama is proud to support the Paddle to Battle Depression, an up to 35-kilometre journey down the Brisbane River from Kookaburra Park in Karana Downs to Fig Tree Pocket River Reserve – all to close Queensland Mental Health Week, dedicated to helping raise awareness and teach the value of mental health and wellbeing.
The Motorama crew were on hand as forty brave paddlers took to the river in various watercraft including stand up paddleboards, kayaks and canoes.
Motorama CEO Mark Woelders captained the safety boat, excited that so many people had turned out in support.
“It’s always encouraging to see the community rally around a great cause, although, I have to admit, it was a great morning to have the river to myself,” Mr Woelders said.
The full 35-kilometre journey, called ‘The Long Haul’ kicked off with brave paddlers taking to the water bright and early to
‘The Late Launch’, a 17.5-kilometre stretch of the river that faces into headwinds, took its toll on paddlers; taking three hours to float into Fig Tree Pocket where the team from Motorama were waiting in the 4X4XMORE Holden Colorado with BBQ trailer in tow, to give the tired kayakers, rowers and paddle boarders a well deserved lunch break before heading home.
As the a proud partner of the Paddle to Battle Depression, Motorama has thrown it’s support behind the White Cloud Foundation to assist in the goals of raising awareness of mental health in the community.
Mr Woelders congratulated the organisers and took time to thank the Motorama team for providing lunch.
“One of the values we try to uphold at Motorama is care: for our customers, in the community and with anyone we have contact with, so we’re proud to partner with the White Cloud Foundation which dedicates it’s time to caring for people who may be going through tough times,” Mr Woelders said.
“December is actually our month dedicated to demonstrating extra care, but we are always more than willing to put our values on show and practice them with valuable organisations and events like these,” he said.
