The Mustang arrives at Motorama!

When Ford first announced right-hand production of the Mustang, Philip Jaillet put his name down to be contacted when they came through the door.

Now, nearly two years later – Philip got handed the keys to his brand new Ford Mustang.

Patience is a virtue, according to Mr Jaillet, who took delivery of his 2015 Ford Mustang Fastback, the first to be delivered from Motorama, on Christmas Eve.

“I thought I was going to get it for Christmas last year,” he said.

“So it’s just been a period of being patient.”

While Mr Jaillet waited it out, friends and family doubted that he would see his new muscle car after another year.

“Everybody kept asking me ‘when’s your car coming?’ and I think maybe they didn’t believe that I was ever going to get one! I said, just be patient,” he said.

Finally, he got a pretty big present from Santa (and the team at Motorama Ford) in the form of his Race Red Mustang. Not that he was blinded by his love for the new Ford racer, opting for the new, turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder, rather than the traditional 5.0L V8 that you’d usually find under the hood of a Mustang.

“I didn’t buy it for go, I bought it for show,” he explained.

“Because it looks exactly the same as [the V8 Mustang] and it’s going to be cheaper to run, cheaper to insure, cheaper to register and all that goes with it.”

But no matter what was under the hood, Mr Jaillet was inspired to buy the first factory-built right hand drive Mustang thanks to the iconic styling that has shaped the new muscle cars profile.

“I like the old Mach 1 shape, and [the current Mustang] is getting back to the Mach 1 shape,” he said, referring to the iconic fastback design of the original performance versions of the Mustang.

It’ll be hard to wipe the smile of Mr Jaillet’s face for a while, and we know that he’ll be taking it for some awesome adventures in the very near future. Congratulations!
