Rio 2016 will be the proving ground for so many Aussie athletes.
Motorama Toyota is proud to host the Whip Around for Rio, to support our athletes to go all the way this year!
Toyota Australia has been a sponsor of the Australian Paralympic Team for 12 years, and they – like all of us – want to see the Aussies shine in Rio, adding a little more Gold to our green and gold outfits.
Motorama Toyota are proud to get behind our Paralympians, which is why we hosted the Whip Around for Rio – to raise money for the team to get over to Brazil, and help them all the way up to the top spot on the podium.
Did you know that it costs roughly $40,000 to get a single athlete to the starting line in Rio? That’s why we’re so happy to get behind the cause to get 170 of our best and brightest to their respective starting lines.
On Saturday 23rd April, we held the Whip Around for Rio at Motorama Toyota’s Moorooka dealership, with 2012 Long Jump Olympic Silver medallist Carlee Beattie chatting about what it takes to get to the top of your game, and her plans to go even further in Rio than she did in London. Carlee is the F46 world record holder in long jump since 2013 and has taken gold at 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships, all while studying to be a nutritionist right here in Brisbane.
Motorama Toyota fired up the BBQ for guests and the general public, as well as $10 car washes (normally $25) – with all money raised donated to the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC) to help get our Paralympians to the games.
General Manager Terry Beyer was honoured to host the Whip Around for Rio, with Motorama Toyota only one of four dealerships chosen to host the event around Australia.
"It was fantastic to host the event and to really show out for our Olympians," Beyer said.
Once the final donations tally rolled in, Motorama Toyota was the highest earning dealership nationally.
"To see the community turn up and back them so strongly as well is, I think, a measure of the support that we have for our sporting heroes. The team at our dealership were on show, and definitely demonstrating the core values of Motorama and Toyota. Plus, I was absolutely rapt that we managed to get the most donations nationally, and I can't wait to see the Aussies take on the world in Brazil in August," he said.
With under a 100 days to Rio, the entire team at Motorama Toyota at Moorooka will be cheering on the green and gold Olympians as they shoot for the top in Brazil!
