The arrival of the EV5 - Kia's newest model in the brand's burgeoning EV lineup - is just around the corner and we're waiting with bated breath to see the final product.
We recently got to experience the new model getting behind the wheel to the test in some real-world scenarios. Here are a few things we experienced that excited us in the lead-up to its release.
Kia has put in great effort to develop an interior cabin that promotes an airy, relaxed ambience via open and unrestricted space. There is minimal division between driver and passenger, as well as first and second rows, assisted by the passenger seat cushion extension that creates a closer connection between occupants.
The open-plan layout flows into the rear where the second-row seats fold completely flat to form a vast cargo hold. Speaking of cargo, we were also shown an array of concealed rear storage compartments that will be perfect for hiding away your valuables.

Our experience with the pre-launch EV5 allowed us to test out some of the more advanced driver assistance including the Highway Driving Assist 2 with Lane Change Assist.
While HDA 2 assists with everything from setting distance, speed, lane-centring, and avoiding any cars that are sitting too close in the next lane, Lane Change Assist is what excited us the most.
When you activate your turn signal, Lane Change Assist will check if it's safe to change lanes and, if it determines that a lane change is possible, will help steer the vehicle into the adjacent lane. If it detects a car in the next lane though, it will warn against moving until a safe opening is available.

One of Kia's key commitments to the Australian market is its locally-specific tuning to develop models that suit local road conditions and driving preferences. Kia has continued this commitment into the EV5 with extensive testing and development to ensure both excellent ride quality and assured handling and cornering balance.
Furthermore, the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems has been calibrated for Australian roads, traffic conditions, lane markings, and more, as well as real-world testing of public charging infrastructure compatibility.

It won't be too long now before we see the new EV5 range in our showrooms and get to experience the model in totality.
If you'd like to be one of the first to experience the EV5 as well - whether that's via a test drive or by placing an order for your very own EV5, speak to the team at Motorama Kia today.
