Since its release a couple of months ago, we’ve had the opportunity to spend some time in and around Toyota’s latest SUV offering - the first-ever Corolla Cross.
During this time, there’s been a number of features that have stood out to us so we’ve put together a list of the top five we love the most. Check out the list below!
There are several fuel price monitoring apps available for your smartphone these days and everyone has their favourite.
Now you can forget about whipping out your phone to find the cheapest fuel nearby as Toyota has taken it a step further by adding the same technology directly into their satellite navigation system in the Corolla Cross.
When you’re getting low on fuel, simply pull up the sat-nav on your infotainment system and you’ll be greeted with a map displaying all the service stations in your vicinity complete with up-to-date fuel prices for each location so you can get the best deal available!
Toyota has been at the forefront of hybrid engine technology for over two decades now and, with this experience, develop some exceptionally refined hybrid drivetrains.
The Corolla Cross is no exception as it is fitted with Toyota’s 2.0-litre 4-cylinder Dynamic Force hybrid engine which touts an impressive combined fuel efficiency of 4.4 litres per 100 kilometres. However, our favourite thing about this engine is just how quiet it runs.
You’d be forgiven for thinking it was a purely electric vehicle with the silence of the drivetrain which is only audible when you’re really trying to give it some grunt by putting your foot to the floor.
Intelligent driver assistance technologies have seen rapid advancement in recent years as manufacturers race towards the paragon of vehicle technology - fully autonomous driving.
While we’re not quite there yet, there are plenty of advanced features available that drastically improve convenience for drivers including the Corolla Cross’s Adaptive Cruise Control with Intelligent Cornering.
While adaptive cruise control will maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you, intelligent cornering means your Corolla Cross will now monitor the road in front of you for bends and turns and adjust your speed accordingly.
This means you can take those bends safely without having to manually switch off cruise control - amazing!
If you don’t particularly rate yourself in terms of parking ability, you’ll be sure to love how much the Corolla Cross assists in this endeavour.
The combination of proximity sensors, camera views and automatic parking assist (available in the Atmos hybrid variant) means you can park your Corolla Cross with confidence no matter how tight the parking space.
If the car senses that you’re heading for a collision with your surroundings, it will hit the brakes and avoid costly damage or embarrassment.
We also love the bird’s eye view feature which gives a 360 degree view of a your Corolla Cross in a three-dimensional model in its surroundings so you can view it from all angles to really perfect your parking.
ICONIC & LEGENDARY NAME
When you hear the Corolla name, it immediately evokes the iconography associated with its long and illustrious history.
As the world’s number one best-selling car, it’s no wonder it has the reputation for reliability and convenience and the Corolla Cross is certain to benefit from this association.
Despite falling into the SUV category as opposed to its historic sedan/hatchback namesake, the Corolla Cross has been developed with the same defining tenets of reliability and versatility.
No doubt the Corolla Cross will continue to uphold the Corolla name alongside its sibling from which it was developed.
The Corolla Cross is packed with many more outstanding features. If you’re in the market for a new whip and are looking for a no-nonsense, reliable, versatile and modern car, make sure to add the Corolla Cross to your list of potential new rides.
