The Next-Gen Ford Ranger Raptor has firmly taken hold of the top spot in Australia's dual cab ute class since its launch late last year. It represents a major leap in Ford's off-road performance and delivers a one-of-a-kind experience straight from the showroom floor.
We can't stop talking about it, which is why we've put together this list of the five things we love the most about the ultimate off-road beast.
You read that right - you may as well be piloting an F-22 Raptor. Okay, that's a bit of a stretch but its pretty neat to have a ute with seats inspired by its high-flying namesake.
The sports seats in the Ranger Raptor are built for performance yet are some of the most comfortable seats we've tested recently.
The prominent bolstering locks you in place even during some of the more spirited cornering while maintaining a substantial amount of plush to keep your rear nice and cushy.
Ford has given the new Raptor a highly sophisticated suspension system from Fox with 2.5" Live Valve Internal Bypass Shock Absorbers.
These state-of-the-art internal bypass dampers feature cutting-edge control technology that offers position-sensitive damping capabilities.
They can adjust electronically up to 500 times a second, reacting to the terrain you're traversing in real-time. If that doesn't excite you, nothing will.
Multiple driving modes in new cars aren't exactly new, but can you name any other car on the market that offers seven?
On top of Normal mode, the Raptor can be driven in Slippery, Mud/Ruts, Sand, Sport, Baha and Rock Crawl mode, and that's not even including the various 4WD modes, steering modes and even exhaust modes!
Ford is practically begging you to adventure across the every terrain available in Australia.
These days, it's not hard to find 4WDs on the market with a rear or centre locking differential straight from the factory but you'll be hard-pressed to find one with two.
However, being the class leader, the Raptor features both front and rear locking differentials so if all the other off-road features aren't enough for you, you'll be able to walk the Raptor over almost any obstacle with the dual diff lockers.
Ford has gone all out with the Raptor and this is evident in the little extra features that don't often get marketed yet showing you just how much thought the manufacturer has put into the car.
Features like the little water jet that washes the mud off the front off-road camera after you've been taking on some boggy tracks.
We also love the little cubbyhole in the centre console that perfectly fits a large fries from Macca's. This isn't just a happy coincidence either - Ford has embossed a little fries symbol in the base so you know exactly what they meant it for.
And lastly, this performance ute hasn't completely given up its tradie roots as the tailgate features a handy measuring strip across its width complete with notches that will fit a set of clamps so you can measure, secure and cut building materials as needed.
There are so many more features on the Next-Gen Ford Ranger Raptor that we love, but we couldn't list them all.
If you're looking for a new ride that will put you at the top of the ute pecking order, make sure to head into Motorama Ford and check out all these great features yourself.
