The newest freedom pony has landed at Motorama Ford and, as expected, it soothes the soul and ignites the eardrums.
The 2024 Ford Mustang honestly has so many awesome features that we're still not sure these are our top five favourites.
Regardless, we can't list everything we loved, so here are the first five things that came to mind when preparing this list.
This is more of a combination of features, but it was by far our favourite part of the 2024 Mustang experience and that is the sheer range of personalisation options.
With adjustable driving modes for steering, exhaust, and suspension, plus interior customisations like lighting and instrument clusters, you could spend days exploring all the possibilities.
This freedom to make the Mustang truly your own takes it from a thrilling sports car to something even more personal and special.
One of the many enjoyable customisations is found in the active exhaust system. You have the choice of four exhaust modes, each designed to match a driving mode—but it’s more fun to select them based on your mood.
While seemingly contradictory to the Mustang character, Quiet Mode is actually quite useful. It comes in handy when returning home late at night, and even when ordering in a drive-thru when you're just trying to hear the cashier.
When you're ready to unleash the beast, Race Mode is the optimum and most visceral choice. You get the full roar of the Coyote V8 - just remember, it's technically "for track use only".
Another customisation that's sure to give you a buzz of excitement, as well as a hint of nostalgia, is the choice of instrument cluster designs.
Thanks to the upgraded digital instrument cluster, Ford has been able to put some extra love into making this Mustang a bit special which now includes a different instrument cluster design for each Drive Mode.
The real standouts though are the throwback displays inspired by past Mustang icons: the classic 1967-68 Mustang (pictured), the 1987-93 Fox-body, or the 1999-2001 SVT Cobra.
It's one of the many attributes Ford didn't necessarily need to include, but it makes a big difference for Mustang enthusiasts.
Technological upgrades like electronic handbrakes can make purists nervous, but Ford’s found a way to turn them into fun - case in point: the Drift Brake.
It's a bit of a double-bluff as it looks like a traditional handbrake but works like an electronic handbrake - pull up and release to engage, or push down and release to disengage. The double bluff comes in when you activate the Drift Brake which turns it into a traditional handbrake where you pull up to engage and release to disengage. This gives you full control over rear brakes to slide your Mustang sideways with ease.
We also need to mention the mental-as-anything Line Lock feature. Have you ever wanted to perform a burnout on demand? Well, now you can.
Simply engage the Line Lock feature, which locks the front brakes while leaving the rears free, letting you unleash a cloud of tire smoke without moving an inch.
Note: Both of these features are considered "for track use only".
The new Mustang celebrates its rich heritage with subtle but meaningful nods to the past. From the iconic dash emblem (pictured) and tri-bar tail lights to the timeless pony logo, every detail reflects Mustang's legacy.
Our favorite touch? A row of Mustang silhouettes along the base of the rear window, tracing the evolution from the first generation to today.
It’s a small but satisfying tribute to an automotive icon.
We’ve only scratched the surface of what makes this Mustang special.
