The all-new 2024 MG HS is now here on our showroom floor, bringing with it some major flexes.
Here's a quick list of the five things about it that we love the most so far.
Starting with our absolute favourite thing about the MG HS is the phenomenal pricing—the range starts from an incredible $33,990 driveaway for the entry-level Vibe trim.
$36,990 will get you into the mid-spec Excite, while the range-topping Essence is available for a cool $40,990 driveaway.
It feels like a car that should be about $10k more than what it's currently priced, so consider us impressed.
A major factor contributing to the extra-pricey feel is the level of comfort the HS exhibits on the road. It feels tight and stable in corners offering great peace of mind and a sense of safety, while the smooth transmission is tuned almost to perfection. We can happily say it rivals some of the big Japanese automakers in terms of ride and handling - an impressive feat considering MG's position as a budget brand.
If there were another reason to think the HS looks more expensive than it is, then that would be the range of metallic paint options. There are six colours - five of which are an extra $700 or the standard White for no extra cost. The thing is - no matter what colour you opt for (even the White) you get a beautiful sparkling metallic paint that is sure to shine in the Queensland sun.
The significant investment MG has put into the new HS design means that it is now built on a dedicated SUV platform (as opposed to being converted from a hatchback like the previous model).
This means dimensions have increased (including the wheelbase) and more interior space has been opened up. The back seats get the bulk of the improvement here with loads of room for even the leggiest of adults.
The boot is nothing to sniff at either with over 500 litres of cargo space to load up to your heart's content.
We couldn't end this piece without mentioning MG's latest play to shake up the market - their bonkers new 10-year warranty program.
As the first new model since the announcement of the program, this instils vital peace of mind in anyone looking at the 2024 MG HS as their next car.
