Tag-Along Tour FAQ
Who can go on this tag-along tour?
Any Motorama customer who has purchased an eligible 4X4 from our dealerships or services their eligible 4X4 at our service departments is welcomed to register for the tag-along tours.
Which vehicles do you consider 4X4?
If you're 4X4 is fitted with low-range, you're most likely eligible to join our 4x4xMORE tag-along tours. AWD and 4WD vehicles that don't have low range often lack ground clearance, underbody protection and off road technology that makes them more prone to getting stuck or damaged when traveling anywhere further than a dirt road. Due to the nature of our events and the fact that we're traveling in a group we unfortunately cannot cater to vehicles not properly equiped to tackle certain obstacles or traverse access tracks. If you have any questions about the suitability of your vehicle, please contact the team at 4x4@motorama.com.au before making your purchase or registering to an upcoming event.
Please note we occasionally organise tag-along tours for stock 4WD without low range and AWD vehicles, like our trip to Mt Barney. Keep an eye out on our website and Facebook page to get notified of any upcoming events that might suit your vehicle.
What is the difference between Basic, Intermediate and Advanced?
When you register for a 4x4xMORE tag-along tour, you'll be asked what your 'off road level' is. This rating refers to both the driver as well as the vehicle and determines the suitability for both to participate in certain events:
- Basic means you have a standard 4x4 vehicle (no modifications) and the driver has little to no 4x4 experience. Trips to Moreton Island and Double Island Point are a good starting point for these members.
- Intermediate means your vehicle has at least a suspension lift, all terrain tyres and the driver has been off roading before and/or attended a 4x4xMORE event in the past. Trips to the bush like Scenic Rim Adventure Park or Blackbutt Forestry are fun and challenging for you.
- Advanced means you have the same modifications as intermediate members, plus at least your own UHF radio, bash plates and rated recovery points. Your 4x4 is fully equiped to tackle every obstacle we encounter and trips with water crossings to Blackbutt Old Coach Road for example are perfect for you.
Please be mindful of these requirements when registering for a tag-along tour (if applicable) as you will not be able to attend an event for which your vehicle or the driver is not equiped to prevent damage or accidents. No refunds will be issued if your vehicle and/or driver does not qualify for a tag-along tour and is advised by one of our trip leaders to not participate.
What's involved in a tag-along tour?
It is a chance for like-minded 4X4 owners to get together to explore a new part of SEQ with the safety and comfort of having experienced 4X4 drivers to help and show you the way. The tag-along tours are designed for people with minimal to no 4WD experience as a relaxing and enjoyable way to spend a few hours building your driving confidence.
What should I bring?
For tag-along tours on the beach (Moreton Island, Double Island Point) pack like you are going to the beach. As facilities will be limited, please ensure you pack plenty of water, sunscreen and snacks. If you have a tyre pressure gauge, compressor or recovery gear, please bring these along. Otherwise these will be provided free of charge. We supply UHF radios on most trips, but if you have your own you're welcome to use it. Please note there will be limited access to toilet facilities in National Parks.
Upon arrival at the meeting point we expect you to have adhered to requirements on the run sheet (including having enough fuel to complete the trip) - if you don't meet the requirements and are therefore are rejected to participate no refund will be issued.
What about food and drinks?
For selected tag-along tours we provide lunch on the day. Please refer to the event page for more details. If lunch is provided let us know of any dietary requirements. If not, please provide your own.
How many people can I bring?
Registrations are for one 4x4 vehicle including 4 occupants (driver and up to three passengers). Our events are designed to be family friendly, so feel free to bring family members in your car. Additional passengers costs are different for every tag-along tour.
Can I bring my pet?
Pets are not allowed on trips to National Parks like Double Island Point or Moreton Island. On all other trips pets are allowed.
What happens after I register?
Your Answer...
Registrations will be processed within 48 hours after the next working day. You'll receive a text message with your confirmation and how to make payment.Because of their popularity we open the registration pages about one month before the event takes place. This is to give everybody a fair chance of joining the tag-along tour and to not book out every event to far in advance. Please note that because demand is typically very high and spots are limited by permit constraints as we are visiting national parks priority is given to new club members for the tag-along tours to Double Island Point and Moreton Island.
If you miss out on this trip, the Motorama 4X4XMORE Club does run regular events throughout the year, so your next opportunity to Live for Adventure is just around the corner.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Our cancellation policy is subject to changes for each individual tag-along tour or weekend trip. Generally, cancellation more than 7 days before the event date are fully refundable. Cancellations less than 7 days before the event are non-refundable. If other bookings are made (such as hire tent), this period could be extended to 14 days prior. In the event a tag-along tour is cancelled or postponed due to a COVID related situation (such as a lockdown), Motorama 4x4xMORE will offer participants the option to join a rescheduled event (where available), credit or refund. This rule does not apply for our tag-along to Moreton Island however, please refer to their t&c's above for more information.
Can I transfer my booking?
Unfortunately due to insurance requirements you won't be able to transfer your booking within 7 days of the event. For certain events with additional booking requirements this period might be extended to 14 days before the event. If you do want to transfer your booking to another 4x4xMORE member outside of this period we reserve the right to choose a participants on the waiting list instead of a nominated replacement. Any transfer needs to adhere to the criteria and requirements for relevant 4x4xMORE tag-along tour and general membership.
What happens when the event gets cancelled?
If the Motorama 4x4xMORE Team has to cancel a tag-along tour due to external factors (dangerous weather predictions or unsuitable track conditions for example) we will endeavour to either reschedule the tag-along tour or replace it with a different destination. If this doesn't work out, you cannot make the proposed date or aren't interested/have been to the other destinations already, you have the option to cancel your registration. In this case we will issue you a full refund on trips that don't include additional booking requirements.
